The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded a two-week investigation Tuesday with two arrests and the seizure of $56,000 in raw heroin, Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.

Onofri stated that at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, the New Jersey State Police, the DEA – Camden, and the Hamilton and Trenton police, under the command of Lt. James Francis, observed the target of the investigation, Ismail Rodriguez-Nunez, exit a restaurant on Ashmore Avenue in Trenton with his brother, Hector Rivera-Nunez. Rivera-Nunez was observed carrying a red plastic bag.

Task force officers detained both men without incident and obtained search warrants for the bag and the Toyota Highlander the men were utilizing. A search of the bag revealed approximately 400 grams of raw heroin. Francis said the estimated street value of the seized heroin is approximately $56,000.

Rodriguez-Nunez, age 29, and Rivera-Nunez, age 21, both from Bronx, NY, are charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with the intent to distribute. Bail was set for each at $100,000 cash or bond.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
