After five years providing quality, timely, free news coverage to the greater Hopewell Valley area, MercerMe will ask its readers to support its mission through subscriptions beginning Monday, September 24.

While we wish we could continue to provide local news for free, it is not financially possible. As a longstanding part of the greater Hopewell Valley community, we know we provide a valuable service to our readers, and we look forward to continuing our coverage — of the issues, people, and ideas that are important to our friends and neighbors.

MercerMe subscriptions and gift subscriptions are now available at mercerme.com/subscribe. A subscription to MercerMe costs $5 per month, or $50 for a year. Senior citizens (age 65+) can opt for a 10% discount. For a senior discount, please email subscribe@mercerme.com.

Your subscription entitles you to:

  • Unlimited access to MercerMe articles;
  • MercerMe’s community calendar;
  • Features about local businesses and restaurants; and
  • A weekly e-mail newsletter delivered right to your inbox.

Starting Monday, September 24, MercerMe news coverage will be available by subscription only. Articles related to timely public safety information will always be free.

We’re proud that our community news reaches so many people and has become a valuable part of our community’s conversation.

Since 2013, MercerMe has published over 2,500 articles about the news of the greater Hopewell Valley community. The website has been visited by readers more than 1.3 million times. Local news keeps readers connected to their community, helps important messages get out, and provides an irreplaceable historical record.

We’re proud to be a member of this wonderful Hopewell Valley community, and proud to be independently supported by advertisers and, soon, our valued readers.

Mary Galioto is the founder, publisher and editor of MercerMe. Originally from Brooklyn, Mary has progressively moved deeper and deeper into New Jersey, settling in the heart of the state: Mercer County. Formerly the author of an embarrassingly informal blog, Mary is a lifelong writer and asker of questions and was even mentioned, albeit briefly, in the New York Times and Washington Post. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from SUNY Binghamton and a Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall Law School. In her free time, Mary fills her life with excessive self-reflection, creative endeavors, and photographing mushrooms. Mary also works as the PR Coordinator at the Hopewell Valley Arts Council, serves on the volunteer Board of Trustees of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail (LHT), holds a seat on the Hopewell Borough Board of Health, and is a member of the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance.

  1. Good for you, Mary! Remember when we had coffee at Viva Gelato several years ago and explored the possibilities for your then blog? HiI am so impressed that you took your idea and ran with it and how often you’re ahead of the pack in disseminating information. Brava and congratulations! I’m on board!
