Monday Sports Update

On Thursday March 18, the Hopewell Valley Boys Swim Team had a meet against Hamilton West, winning 111-59. Alex Helmrich placed first in the 200 yard Individual Medley (2:20.72) and in the 100 yard backstroke (1:04.95). Thomas Montonari placed first in the 50 yard freestyle (26.31) and in the 500 yard freestyle (6:31.23). Owen Seibold finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:13.57) and the 100 yard freestyle (57.4), while Christopher Sawicki placed first in the 100 yard butterfly (1:13.57). The Hopewell boys placed first in the 200 yard medley relay, swimming 1:59.90 (Sawicki, Seibold, Montanari, AJ Wilson). Hopewell also finished first in the 200 yard freestyle relay, swimming 2:05.41 (Flavio D'Attilio, Jonah Corveleyn, Pavel Sverdlov, Wilson), as well as the 400 yard freestyle relay (4:10.39 by Corveleyn, Montanari, AJ Yadamiec, Helmrich).

On Monday March 22, the boys swam against Trenton and won 116-46. Alex Helmrich placed first in the 200 yard Individual Medley (2:21.09) and in the 100 yard butterfly (1:03.29). Michael Genovesi placed first in the 100 yard freestyle (59.00) and Pavel Sverdlov placed first in the 100 yard backstroke (1:09.24). Owen Seibold finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:13.20) and the 50 yard freestyle (25.19). Christopher Sawicki placed first in the 200 yard freestyle (2:19.70) and in the 500 freestyle (6:37.94). The boys finished first in the 200 yard medley relay, swimming 1:54.82 (Sawicki, Seibold, Helmrich, Thomas Montanari). Hopewellalso finished first in the 200 yard freestyle relay, swimming 1:44.56 (Genovesi, Seibold, Sarachman, AJ Yadamiec), as well as the 400 yard freestyle relay (3:59.20 by Helmrich, Sawicki, Montanari, Yadamiec). – Christopher Sawicki

Last week, the Hopewell Valley Girls Swim Team finished their season with meets against Trenton, West Windsor-Plainsboro-North and Nottingham. On Wednesday, the girls lost to WWPN 76-94. Lilly Wurtz, Shriya Karthikvatsan, Reagan Sherman, and Ava D’Alessandro placed second in the 200 medley relay (2:02.51), and L. Wurtz, Emilie Sawicki, Claire Christie, and Amelie Bass placed second in the 200 free relay (1:55.94). In the 500 free, Sherman placed first (5:25.33) and Anna Wurtz placed third (6:05.13), while in the 50 free, L. Wurtz placed first (27.06) and D’Alessandro placed second (27.09). In the 200 IM, Karthikvatsan placed second (2:29.22) and Sawicki placed third (2:32.09). The meet against Trenton was not scored. – Emilie Sawicki
