The Opening Ceremony for the Celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the Incorporation of Pennington Borough will be held at the Pennington Methodist Church at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 19. The event is free and open to the public.
The program will include an historical slide show, “Pennington Past and Present” by Tom O’Neill, “A Look At The Future” presentation by Pennington Planning Board chairman Winn Thompson, a musical presentation by the Hopewell Valley chorus, and a presentation of a New Jersey Legislative Resolution sponsored by Senator Shirley Turner and Assembly members Reed Gusciora and Elizabeth (Liz) Muoio. Organist Cynthia Westbrook will provide a musical prelude and postlude.
The Opening Ceremony is one of several events scheduled for this milestone anniversary. A tour of Pennington’s churches will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. followed by an ecumenical service at 6 p.m. at the Pennington Presbyterian Church on Sunday, April 26. Details and future events will be announced later.
Pennington Borough Council Member Catherine “Kit” Chandler and former Mayor and Councilmen Edwin Weed Tucker are co-chairs of the Pennington 125th Anniversary Celebration assisted by many community volunteers.
