One person was killed and two others seriously injured in a head-on crash involving a Honda Civic and a tractor trailer Tuesday afternoon on Route 31, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 12:07 p.m. between Titus Mill Road and Hopewell Pennington Road, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.

Police said the Civic was traveling southbound when it crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with the tractor trailer. The car was carrying three people—one driver and two passengers. All three sustained serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital, where one of the occupants was later pronounced dead. The victim has not been publicly identified.
Chopper 6 from ABC affiliate WPVI-TV was over the scene, showing the wreckage and emergency crews working to secure the area.
No injuries were reported to the driver of the tractor trailer.
Route 31 was shut down in both directions for several hours following the crash, causing significant traffic delays.
Emergency responders included Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, Pennington Fire Company, Hopewell Fire Company and EMS, Capital Health Paramedics, New Jersey State Police, and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Collision Response Team.
