Pennington Fire Department battles fire in hay field

by Community Contributor

Tuesday afternoon, Brush-51, Engine-51 and Tanker-51 were dispatched to Woosamonsa Road for a brush fire. Upon arrival, units found approximately 25 bales of hay burning throughout a field.⁣ ⁣Engine and brush crews immediately began to stop the spread of the fire. In order to suppress the fire, each individual bale of hay had to be broken down. Overhaul of the 200ft x 200ft area continued for several minutes after the fire was placed under control.⁣⁣

EMS rehab units from from 151 (Pennington First Aid Squad) and 159 (Hopewell Twp. Emergency Services) assisted as well due to the excessive heat.⁣⁣
