Public Safety Alert: Lewdness Incident on Princeton D&R Canal Towpath

The Princeton Police Department has issued a safety advisor to the public that a lewdness incident occurred on Monday, August 26 at approximately 5:50pm. An unknown male exposed himself to a female jogger while on the D&R Canal towpath in the area west of Alexander Street. Immediately after doing so, the unknown male fled from the area and proceeded toward West Windsor. Patrols responded and checked the area but were not able to locate the suspect. The male was described as having a black backpack, holding a sweater, and had his face covered. The New Jersey State Park Police were advised of the incident and are investigating.

Please use caution and be vigilant while jogging/walking through remote areas.

  • Report suspicious behavior or activity immediately by calling 9-1-1
  • Carry a cell phone with you for emergencies
  • Stay alert and tuned in to your surroundings
  • Avoid jogging/walking alone when possible
  • Know the area. Stay on marked trails and avoid venturing into unknown or secluded areas.
