A former Hopewell Township police lieutenant has been indicted on sexual assault and child endangerment charges stemming from allegations involving a 13-year-old girl, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
Christopher H. Kascik, 53, of Kingwood Township, was indicted by a Hunterdon County grand jury on Sept. 17 on five counts: one count of second-degree sexual assault, two third-degree counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.
Prosecutors allege that Kascik provided alcoholic beverages to a 13-year-old girl at his Kingwood Township residence on March 29, 2025, causing her to become intoxicated. They further allege that Kascik sexually assaulted the girl while she was intoxicated.
Kascik was initially charged on a warrant complaint on April 23, 2025, according to prosecutors.
Kascik spent 25 years with the Hopewell Township Police Department. Township records show he was appointed as a police dispatcher in February 1994 and became a patrol officer in 1996. He was promoted to sergeant in 2011 and lieutenant in 2014 before retiring effective Feb. 1, 2019.
At the time of his arrest in 2025, Kascik was a civilian employee of the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office, according to the prosecutor’s office. The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office was designated to prosecute the case in the Hunterdon Vicinage of Superior Court.
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit and New Jersey State Police participated in the investigation.
