Six Charged with Car Burglaries and Thefts in Hopewell Borough and Township

by Mary Galioto

Six people have been charged by Detective Frank Tulko of the Hopewell Township Police Department for several car burglaries and three car thefts that occurred in Hopewell Borough and Hopewell Township in the early part of summer.

Patrol officers responded to several calls on June 19 when residents in Hopewell Borough found that their cars had been burglarized overnight with various items being taken including small amounts of cash. And one resident found that his or her 2011 Honda CRV had been stolen.

Two weeks later, patrol officers responded to numerous calls in Brandon Farms in Hopewell Township, for additional car burglaries. Two cars, a 2004 Ford Expedition and a 2003 Honda Pilot, were also stolen from the neighborhood.

After lengthy investigation, these cases were linked to individuals arrested for loitering in Upper Makefield Township.

Criminal charges have been filed against all six individuals. These cases have been forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.  The Ford Expedition and the Honda Pilot were recovered on July 9th in Trenton. The Honda CRV has not been recovered.
