‘The 39 Steps’ Brings Fast-Paced Comedy to Kelsey Theatre April 24–May 3

by Community Contributor

A comedic stage adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps will take the stage at Mercer County Community College’s Kelsey Theatre from April 24 through May 3.

Presented by Maurer Productions OnStage, the play blends mystery and humor in a fast-moving production featuring just four actors portraying more than 150 characters. The story follows Richard Hannay, who becomes entangled in an international espionage plot after a chance encounter with a mysterious spy.

Originally adapted from the 1935 Hitchcock film, the play was nominated for six Tony Awards in 2008 and won two.

The cast includes Tim Rerucha of Hamilton, Tonia Del Priore of East Windsor, Mary Tomson of Levittown, Pa., and Daniel C. Gleason of Yardley, Pa.

Performance schedule:

  • Fridays, April 24 and May 1 at 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 25 at 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m.
  • Sundays, April 26 and May 3 at 2 p.m.

All performances will be held at Kelsey Theatre on Mercer County Community College’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Tickets are $24 for adults and $22 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased online at the Kelsey Theatre website or by calling the box office at 609-570-3333, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon.

The theater is wheelchair accessible, with free parking available on site.
