Hopewell Valley-born Margaret Chipowsky’s dream of competing on Jeopardy! is coming true tonight, Monday, March 21 on Channel 6 WPVI-TV / ABC at 7pm, ET.
UPDATE: Margaret won on Monday night so make sure you tune in on Tuesday, March 22 to see how far she goes!
Chipowsky grew up in Titusville and is the daughter of Michael Chipowsky, Hopewell Township’s former police chief (from 1995-2006) and Mary Jane Chipowsky. She graduated from Hopewell Valley Central High School and now lives in Lawrenceville and is an attorney at MDAdvantage Insurance.
“I always watched Jeopardy — all my life — as a kid. My mom and dad still watch it everyday,” said Margaret Chipowsky, when asked about her aspirations to make it on the show.
Chipowsky said that she found out in December 2021 that she had made it and traveled to Los Angeles, CA for “tape day” in January 2022. she said, “You do the audition but you don’t really think you’re going to be picked!”
Chipowsky joked that she was less worried about the questions than she was the unpredictability of the experience of being on the show. With the other contestants, she had the chance to practice on stage with the buzzer, see what the board was like, and briefly meet the host, former Jeopardy! winner Ken Jennings.
Her own police chief father has not been able to get information out of her but is beaming: “Mary Jane and I couldn’t be prouder! Margaret has tried out for Jeopardy on and off for twenty years before making it to the show! We wish her all the best and have no idea of the outcome,” said Michael Chipowsky.
Watch tonight Monday March 21 on Channel 6 WPVI-TV / ABC – 7pm and cheer on Margaret Chipowsky!
