Obituary: George H Pearson Hopewell, NJ Pennington, NJ

George H. Pearson, 100, of Pennington passed away February 18, 2024 at the Capital Health Medical Center at Hopewell. George was born in Trenton, was brought up in Lower Makefield Township, PA and moved to Pennington in 1943. He was the son of W. Houstoun and Helen E. Pearson and brother of Robert E. Pearson all of whom preceded him.

George was a graduate of the Lawrenceville School, Princeton University class of 1947 and the University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Architecture in 1951. He headed his own small architectural firm in Lawrenceville sine 1964. He did hundreds of small and medium sized commercial and residential buildings and some larger ones including Halo Farm in Lawrence Township and Catholic War Veterans in Trenton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army with service in Europe shortly before the end of WWII. His brother fought the entire battle of Okinawa.

George served three terms of the Pennington Borough Council and was an active member of Trenton Rotary since 1971 and of the Board of The Trenton Citadel of the Salvation Army. He and his brother spent many happy years at their summer cottage with their friends on Lake Ontario near the Thousand Islands of New York State. He was a member of the Amateur Comedy Club in New York City, the Crescent Yacht Club, Chaumont, NY and the Nassau Club of Princeton. George was a member of the Trenton-Cyrus Masonic Lodge #5 of Pennington and was a 32nd degree Mason with the Scottish Rite of New Jersey. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Trenton since 1938, Veterans of Foreign Wars, NJ Sons of Revolution and Society of Colonial Wars. George was the president and secretary of his Class of 1947 of Princeton. He attended many reunions and mini reunions with the Class. George enjoyed his many friends during his life.

He is survived by cousins Mrs. Thomas Eager of Maryland and Chaumont, NY, Mary Cline of Montana, Susan Bainbridge of Arlington, VA and Robert E. Hansler of California and Goddaughter Dr. Nicolette Picerno of Colorado.

Visitation will be held at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington. Check their website for times. The interment will be private at the Ewing Cemetery Association, Ewing. Condolences are welcome at www.wilsonapple.com.
