by Community Contributor

A structure fire occurred at approximately 10:45 this morning, at a Cleveland Road address. Hopewell Township Police received a 9-1-1 call from a passing motorist reporting that the house was on fire. Upon arrival, responding officers and fire personnel found the house to be fully involved with smoke and flames.

Fire personnel, under the command of Assistant Chief Robert Ingram of the Pennington Fire Department, arrived on location and began work on the structure fire.

Responding agencies assisting the Pennington Fire Department were Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, Hopewell Fire Department, Union Fire Company, Lawrence Township Fire Department, Princeton Fire Department, Ewing Fire Department, Montgomery Fire Department, Hopewell EMU, Capital Health EMS, and Princeton First Aid Squad.

The residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire and suffered extensive damage. Preliminary investigation of the fire pointed to nothing suspicious. However, all fires in the Township are investigated as suspicious in nature until proven otherwise. No injuries were reported.

The source of the fire is under investigation by Det. Steven Ciosek and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.

This information was released by the Hopewell Township Police Department Thursday, April 4, 2024.
