On behalf of the staff, board, and members of the Sourland Conservancy, I would like to sincerely thank the many cyclists, volunteers, and community partners who helped make this year’s Sourland Spectacular such a success. We are all tremendously grateful to The Watershed Institute for hosting.
Thanks to the support of our community, proceeds from the event will help support the Conservancy’s education, advocacy, and stewardship programs. In past few years, with the help of partners and volunteers, we have removed invasive plants and planted and protected more than 57,000 native trees and shrubs in public parks and preserves. We’ve also worked with local homeowners to create habitat and connect green spaces, giving wildlife the room they need to roam and thrive. These efforts are critical: since 2019, the 90-square-mile Sourland Mountain Region has lost about one million trees to a single invasive insect, the emerald ash borer. With your continued support, we can begin to restore what has been lost.
