I am writing to endorse Krista Weaver’s candidacy for the Hopewell Borough Council. During the three years we have served to together on Council, we have worked side-by-side on some of the most complex and consequential issues facing our community, such as future of our water system and the proposed redevelopment of the Hopewell 57 site. As Borough Council President last year, she stepped up and rose to the challenges of the job. I have watched her learn, grow, and evolve, as she takes on new responsibilities and educates herself on the complexities of each issue that comes her way. This is the foundation of effective public service. Her pursuit of a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning will further expand her skills in ways that are sure to benefit our community.
As a governing body, we are a pot-luck dinner of skills, perspectives, and life experience. The challenge is to harness what we bring to the table, in collaboration with others, to create something more than the sum of its parts. The fact that, during her first term on Council, she successfully led the effort to secure a $1.5MM federal Safe Route to Schools grant is exceptional, and a testament to her dedication and grit.
The quality of leadership depends on our ability to find out what is true, share those truths with others, act on them, and inspire others to do the same. I have seen Krista do this firsthand.
I urge you to support her candidacy on November 4th.
