To the Editor:
I am thrilled to be able to cast my vote next month for Justine Levine for Hopewell Borough Council. Over the last three years, I have learned a lot while serving on council – it is not a glamorous job, it can be thankless at times, but it is an important one. To do it well, you need to be an excellent listener, a clear communicator, and an independent thinker. Justine has all of these qualities and more.
I first got to know Justine when she was a moderator of the Hopewell Valley Race and Diversity discussion groups (more recently known as Hopewell Valley Together). It was there where I first saw her commitment to community building, and witnessed her strong listening and communication skills.
Justine is one of the most thoughtful, compassionate, and intelligent people I know. She does not accept things at face value, but instead takes the time to truly understand the issues in front of her. She does not shy away from hard conversations, and she is willing to listen and learn from an opposing viewpoint.
Hopewell Borough is extremely fortunate that Justine has put her name on the ballot. I hope we can all seize the opportunity before us and elect her in November!
