A Valentine from Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson

by Community Contributor

In recognition that February 14, 2022 is NJ Socks for the Homeless Day, Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson is sponsoring a sock drive to benefit one of our most vulnerable populations.

Every shelter agrees the socks are one the most requested item but is the least donated item. We take for granted the simple task of being able to put on a clean pair of socks daily, our homeless population does not have the same privilege.

Most do not have the means to wash their clothes on a regular basis so it is necessary to have more socks than the average person. More often than not, they only own a single pair and rarely are they in good condition or are warm enough during the winter months.
