Fire at Residence on Applewood Drive in Hopewell Township

    The Hopewell Township Police Department, along with the Hopewell Fire Department, responded to an Applewood Drive address for a reported structure fire at approximately 4:30am this morning. Patrol units arrived and observed a fire in the cathedral ceiling area of a second floor bedroom.

    The Hopewell Fire Department, under the command of Chief Joseph Novak, arrived on location and quickly extinguished the fire.  The five occupants of the residence were out of the residence upon patrol arrival.

    The fire does not seem suspicious in nature and is believed to have originated in the area of a ceiling fan mounted to the cathedral ceiling.

    Responding agencies included the Pennington Fire Department, Union Fire Company, Lawrenceville Fire Company, Montgomery Fire Company #2, Rocky Hill Fire Department and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.

    This incident remains under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department, Hopewell Valley Emergency Services and the Mercer County Fire Marshalls Office.

    There were no reported injuries.
