Sunday, December 4th, 1:00-4:00pm – Holiday Open House – The Hopewell Public Library, 13 East Broad Street, Hopewell, NJ 08525 – Join the staff and board of the Hopewell Public Library for live music, hot cider and holiday treats to celebrate the season. Activities will be available in the children’s room! This event is open to all ages and is co-sponsored with the Hopewell Museum, which will also be open from 1-4pm.

Monday, December 5th, 10:30am – Preschool Storytime – The Hopewell Train Station, 2 Railroad Place, Hopewell, NJ 08525
Come to the Hopewell Train Station for some assorted stories with our storytime reader, Aaron!

Monday, December 5th, 7:00-8:00pm – HPL Book Club: A Winter Evening of Poetry – The Hopewell Public Library, 13 East Broad Street, Hopewell, NJ 08525 – The HPL book club will meet to discuss their latest literary endeavor – poetry! Please bring a favorite poem for the group to read and discuss.

Tuesday, December 6th, 3:30-5:00pm – Creative Aging: Felting Class – The Hopewell Public Library, 13 East Broad Street, Hopewell, NJ 08525 – Come to the library as the afternoons draw in and the festive season approaches. As always, absolutely no skill required; just your enthusiasm to create and to be with friends. Attendees will learn how to felt and create a small holiday decoration. Spaces are limited – Register Here!

Tuesday, December 6th, 6:00-7:30pm – Bullet Journal Book Club – The Hopewell Public Library, 13 East Broad Street, Hopewell, NJ 08525 – The Bullet Journal Book Club will have its first meeting, where we will set up bullet journals for January 2023! Are you looking for a fun way to stay organized? Do you want a way to truly personalize your personal schedule? Bullet journals can act as a planner, give you space for your calendars and task lists, allow you to write personal reflections, and track your habits, moods, and goals. They can do as much (or as little) as you’d like. Need a sketchbook? Use a bullet journal! Want a reading log? Use a bullet journal! Need to budget, meal plan, keep a media list, track your exercise, or keep a casual scrapbook? You can! The possibilities are endless. Come to the Hopewell Public Library to set up a bullet journal! Materials will be provided. This event is open to anyone 18 and older. There will also be a school planner-style bullet journaling event for high school and college students taking place on December 20th. Register here!

Wednesday, December 7th, 7:00-8:30pm – Wednesday Night Out: The Lenape and Their Ancestors in Hopewell Valley – The Hopewell Theater, 5 South Greenwood Ave, Hopewell, NJ 08525 – American Indians have lived in the Hopewell area for at least 9,000 years.  Volunteers and an intern have recently completed cataloging approximately 2000 artifacts in the Hopewell Museum collection.  Much of the material was donated to the Museum by local collectors.  Through the study of these artifacts, together with other types of record, including historical sources, we are learning more about the ways of life of the people who lived here for so long. This event is cosponsored by the Hopewell Valley Historical Society and the Hopewell Museum.

Tuesday, December 13th 6:30-8:00pm – Cookbook Book Club – The Hopewell Public Library, 13 East Broad Street, Hopewell, NJ 08525 – For each meeting, the Cookbook Book Club chooses a cookbook – classic, new, hot, or obscure. Each member cooks one dish from the book and brings it to the library so everyone can sit down together and discuss the book while eating a feast from the book’s recipes. Stop by the library to peruse this month’s cookbooks and add to the smorgasbord!

Wednesday, December 14th 2:00-3:30pm – Creative Aging: Intro to Speech Building with Toastmaster Thaine Shetter – Hopewell Public Library, 13 East Broad Street, Hopewell, NJ 08525 – Toastmaster Thaine Shetter will explain the mission of Toastmasters and what their members do. Attendees will share their own public speaking experiences in an open discussion. Attendees will then choose a specific holiday word or theme with which to construct a one-minute speech to share at the next session! Spaces are limited – Register here!

Saturday, December 17th 4:00-5:30pm – Hot Chocolate & Family Storytelling – Hopewell Train Station, 2 Railroad Place, Hopewell, NJ 08525 – Often when we tuck our little ones in, we hear the question, “Will you tell me a story?” What a great tradition – telling family stories. Come with your blankets or favorite stuffed animal and join us at the Hopewell Train Station to cozy up and listen to or share family stories. No storytelling experience necessary! This event will be facilitated by local author and illustrator, Barbara Valenza.

We’ll start by using them to make personalized calendars and class/extracurricular schedules, but bullet journals can do so much more. Need a sketchbook? Use a bullet journal! Want a reading log? Use a bullet journal! Want to keep track of your movies and TV shows, save inspirational quotes, track your sports practice or exercise schedule, or collect notes from friends? You can! The possibilities are endless. Come to the Hopewell Public Library to set up a bullet journal! Materials will be provided. This event is for high school and college students ages 14-21. There is another bullet journaling event for any adults 18+ taking place on Tuesday, December 6th. Register Here!

Wednesday, December 21st 2:00-3:30pm – Creative Aging: Speech Building with Toastmaster Thaine Shetter – Hopewell Public Library, 13 East Broad Street, Hopewell, NJ 08525 – Toastmaster Thaine Shetter will run a workshop where attendees will deliver their one-minute speeches around their specific holiday word or theme. Attendees will also bring a holiday food/drink from their own tradition to share! We will eat, make merry and impress with our oratory! Spaces are limited – Register here!
