Homefront’s Holiday Market 2022 open to the public!

by Community Contributor

Shop for creative and inspired works of art and handmade home goods to help families experiencing homelessness.

Homefront’s Holiday Market 2022 offers the public an opportunity to purchase inspiring works by HomeFront artists, who have been impacted by homelessness and poverty. Artists in HomeFront’s ArtSpace program sell their handmade candles, crocheted items, original paintings, as well as ArtSpace hand-painted Holiday Greeting Cards. In addition, we will feature the “ANEW Artists” group, originally founded at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK). Visitors will also enjoy the “White Elephant Holiday Shop” filled with treasures and festive items from creative local vendors.

Some of the hand-knitted items available for purchase.

Holiday Market sales will benefit HomeFront and our artists, and the event will kick off National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. As an added bonus, the 2022 Holiday Market is being held at HomeFront’s newly expanded headquarters in Lawrenceville at 1880 Princeton Avenue.

When buyers select a painting, set of heartwarming holiday greeting cards, or other handmade items designed by HomeFront artists, they experience a double win — buying something they love AND supporting a cause they believe in!

“HomeFront’s core mission is to end homelessness and to break the cycle of poverty for families in our region,” says Sarah Steward, HomeFront’s Chief Executive Officer. “Every HomeFront program is designed to give local families the support, skills, and resources to transform their lives and put them and their children on a path to thrive.”

One of the ways HomeFront supports this transformation is through ArtSpace, HomeFront’s therapeutic art program, a special place where the creative process becomes a tool for self-expression, critical thinking and problem-solving that can change the lives of the artists.

HomeFront’s Holiday Market is unique from other holiday pop-ups and market events says Ruthann Traylor, director of HomeFront’s ArtSpace and SewingSpace, “A dedicated team of volunteers help us create exhibits throughout the year that showcase and sell our clients’ works; helping boost their self-esteem and providing them with vital income. At the 2022 Holiday Market, everyone will find something they’ll love for themselves, or as an extra special holiday gift.”
