The Hopewell Valley Senior Services offers events, programs, educational classes, and lectures throughout the year. This month, they are offering the following:
Walking Group
Tuesday, May 8, 11:00am, Delaware & Raritan Tow Path and River Drive Walk. We will be meeting at the parking lot in the park by Route 29 & 546 intersect. We will be walking on the tow path from the park to Church Road and back along River Drive.
Tech Time
Tuesday, May 8, 3:00pm at Mercer County Library-Hopewell Branch, 245 Pennington Titusville Road, Pennington. Stop in for tech help from local teens. Registration required by May 4. This is the last Tech Time until October. To register, contact Liz, 609-537-0257.
Tech Class: Using Your Smartphone
Wednesday, May 9, 4:30pm-6:00pm at HV Senior Center, 395 Reading Street, Pennington. This course will cover the most important features of a standard Smartphone and review the differences between different models. Students need not to have a smartphone to attend but are encouraged to bring their devices if they have one. Registration is required, call Liz 609-537-0257 by May 2nd. There is a $5.00 fee per attendee for the class, please bring a check made out to the Hopewell Valley Senior Foundation.
Managing Daily Living with Arthritis
Wednesday, May 16, 10:00am, HV Senior Center, 395 Reading Street, Pennington. One in five adults in the US is diagnosed with arthritis, but despite it being common, arthritis is a broadly used term for a wide range of conditions that can lead to chronic joint pain and disability. Join Dr. Sanjina Prabhakaran, a board certified, fellowship trained rheumatologist from Capital Health-Rheumatology Specialists, to learn about the different types of arthritis that can occur in adults, symptoms, and how to manage your condition in every day life.
Tech Class: Introduction to Social Media
Wednesday, May 23, 4:30pm-6:00pm, Hopewell Valley Senior Center, 395 Reading Street, Pennington. If you’ve ever wondered what the difference between a post, a tweet, a pin and a snap is, this class is for oyou. We will talk about the most popular social networks, who uses them and what they use them for. Time permitting we will help interested people sign up for their own accounts. Registration is required, call Liz 609-537-0257 by May 16th. There is a $5.00 fee per attendee for the class, please bring a check made out to the Hopewell Valley Senior Foundation.
Lunch & Learn at Brandywine Senior Living at Pennington Wednesday, May 30, 12:00pm at Brandywine Senior Living at Pennington, 143 W. Franklin Ave, Pennington. Senior Housing Options-Your Questions Answered! Learn about the costs and services of assisted living and other types of senior housing in our area. Enjoy tours of resident and model apartments. Lunch will be served at noon. Please register with Liz, 609-537-0257 if you are interested in attending, space is limited.
Senior Center Discussion Group
Wednesday, May 30, 2:00pm, HV Senior Center, 395 Reading Street, Pennington. The discussion will provide an opportunity for you to voice your opinions about what you would use and like to be included in the design of the new Hopewell Valley Senior Center. Information from this discussion group, combined with input from other discussion groups throughout the valley will help guide the planning for the new center. Please come and help us understand what is needed, wanted and dreamed for in the new senior center. We are asking that each resident attend only one discussion group.
