Police update: cyclist hit last week has passed away

On Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 4:12pm, Hopewell Township Police Department was dispatched to a serious motor vehicle crash on Princeton Avenue and East Broad Street. Officers arrived on scene and found that a Kia Sedona had struck a bicyclist at the intersection.

The investigation revealed that a 2015 Kia Sedona operated by 67-year-old man from Hamilton, NJ was traveling westbound on East Broad Street. The driver initiated a left turn onto Princeton Ave. and struck the bicyclist who was traveling eastbound on Broad St.

The bicyclist, 59-year-old Susan Waskow (Hopewell, NJ), was transported to Capital Health in Trenton by the Hopewell Rescue Squad and Capital Health paramedics. Unfortunately, Mrs. Waskow later succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by Officer Michael Makwinski, Detective Adam Liotta, and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Det. Ryan Minnick.
