The Hopewell Township Police Department, along with the Hopewell Fire Department, responded to a Province Line Road address for a fire alarm activation. Shortly after receiving the alarm activation, several callers to 9-1-1 were reporting a structure fire on Province Line Road. The Hopewell Fire Department arrived on location and observed a fire in the rear of the residence. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Responding agencies assisting the Hopewell Fire Department included the Pennington Fire Department, Union Fire Company, Lawrenceville Fire Company, Montgomery Fire Company #2, Montgomery Fire Company #1, Princeton Fire Department, Princeton First Aid Squad, Rocky Hill Fire Department and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services. The fire was brought under control at approximately 8:15 P.M. The home suffered fire damage, as well as heat, smoke and water damage throughout.
This incident remains under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department, Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, the Mercer County Prosecutors Office and the Mercer County Fire Marshalls Office.
One firefighter sustained a minor injury while fighting the fire.
